Peter Donohoe - Edvard Grieg: Lyric Pieces, Volume 2 [CD]

Edvard Grieg: Lyric Pieces, Volume 2

Acclaimed pianist Peter Donohoe presents a compelling collection of Edvard Grieg's miniatures, "Lyric Pieces, Volume 2." Following his previous acclaimed volume, this double-album features 39 of Grieg's evocative piano pieces, alongside the powerful Ballade, Op.24. Donohoe, celebrated for his profound musicianship and commanding technique, offers a unique interpretation by arranging the pieces in his own curated order, rather than sequentially.

Grieg, widely regarded as Norway's 'National Composer,' eschewed the traditional German sonata form in favor of these intimate, folk-influenced miniatures, originally published in 10 volumes. This recording captures the essence of Grieg's distinctive style, deeply rooted in the folk music of his native Norway.
