Bossanova is the third album from the influential alternative rock band, following their platinum-selling second album Doolittle. Produced with Gil Norton, this 1990 release showcases a less primal side of the Pixies, with surf and space rock elements rising to the fore. Lyrically, Black Francis explores cryptic themes with a recurring sci-fi influence that inspired Vaughan Oliver’s classic sleeve design. The album includes the singles ‘Allison’, ‘Dig For Fire’, and ‘Velouria’, alongside their first-ever cover song, ‘Cecilia Ann’ by The Surftones.
