Bonobo - Distance in Static [2LP Vinyl]

Bonobo, the acclaimed electronic music artist also known as Simon Green, presents his new album ‘Distance in Static’. This release evokes fragments of memory and meaning, drawing from over two decades at the forefront of electronic music. Known for his richly textured, globally influenced sound, Bonobo continues his tradition of inspired collaborations, featuring artists such as Joy Crookes, Ichiko Aoba, Nilüfer Yanya, Arooj Aftab, Nicole Miglis, and Aanya Martin. The album weaves together lyrics in English, Urdu, and Japanese, alongside historic Iranian samples and guzheng recordings, all processed through Green’s meticulous instrumentation. Recorded across sessions spanning LA, Tokyo, and London, a significant portion was completed at Neil Young’s legendary Broken Arrow Ranch in California. This record represents the culmination of over 25 years as an artist and DJ, showcasing Bonobo’s enduring influence and his ability to connect with a new generation rediscovering '90s genres. The duality of introspective composer and club-focused selector is at the heart of this work, offering depth, detail, and emotion that is both beautiful and driving, ambitious, and forward-thinking.
